The rest of the crew were not feeling well so only myself and Seren turned up for the guided bike tour. Serens bike is attached to mine. Seriously this is not coming out my butt.
We covered a lot of miles. Passing rice and lotus flower fields
I think the guide was annoyed because only two of us made the trip. He did not want to stop. We had other plans as lots of interesting things to see.
The lotus flower stems are harvested and weaved into a fabric. They are naturally stain resistant, waterproof, and soft to the touch. Historically it was used to make robes for high ranking Budddhist monks
We travelled through the back rural roads. Great not to be surrounded by cars.
Lots of these contraptions in the fields. At night time locusts and other bugs are attracted to the flurorecent lights seen in the photo. They drown when they fall into the pond below the lights. Eating insects is very popular in Cambodia.
We did not try insect on this particular day as the bike guide had provided us with cans of pepsi and GrandfatherSmile beef. Combination made in heaven.
Little bit off the sides and front.
